Shimano XT BL-M8100 + Br-M8120 J-Kit I-Spec EV brake

The new Shimano brakes are part of the dealer Deore XT M8100 group and represent a new standard in terms of modularity and performance. Thanks to the new I-Spec EV system, the lever has 2 support points, which guarantees higher stability, while the main function allows a lateral and angular regulation of the gearbox command which is fixed with a single screw, thus maintaining the handlebar in Perfect order.

The lever design resumes the XTR lines and offers regulation of the Reach and Free Stroke for a personalized braking. Thanks to Servo Wave technology, a faster engagement and a comparison braking power is also obtained.

Technologies

4-Piston

The disc braking system with two opposite pistons of different diameter is characterized by the presence of pistons of different sizes in the front and rear. The system adopts a power transfer mode for which the brake rotor is pressed by the smaller piston at the entrance of the disk headquarters and also by the larger and more powerful piston in the rear. This prevents the joltary movement and significantly reduces noise. In addition, the 4 -piston pliers guarantees a greater contact surface, keeping the size compact, while the efficient positioning of the pads is regulated to the extent necessary to stabilize the pressure. The combined use with the servvowave lever provides an extraordinary 50% increase in braking power compared to the previous model.

Ice Technologies

The incorrect configuration of the disk brake rotor and pads during braking on a long descent, for example, exerts a negative impact on the brake performance. Shimano has adopted the disk brake rotor and Ice Technologies pads to obtain a cooling technology capable of guaranteeing constant performance. The shovel of the coated disc brake rotor, equipped with a 3 -layer sandwich structure in stainless steel, aluminum and stainless steel, guarantees better heat dispersion (from 400˚C to 300˚C of temperature on the surface). The cooling flap for the tablet guarantees less wear, less noise, less loss of efficiency and greater lightness.

One Way Bleeding

The "One Way Bleeding" function was developed to ensure the easy and quick prevention of air infiltrations in Shimano hydraulic systems. They optimized the entire oil circuit in the system to prevent the presence of air bubbles inside. The unidirectional oil circuit, together with a funnel tool with mineral oil, guarantees an easy and clean bleeding system.

I-Spec EV

I-Spec EV Create a clean and optimized cockpit that allows greater concentration and greater comfort for a wide range of cyclists.

Advantages and benefits

  • The largest adjustment range allows cyclists of the most varied styles, preferences and builds to find the position of the leverage and the optimal command.
  • Ergonomic design, faster access to leverage and fluid operation improve driving comfort and concentration.
I-Spec EV increases the rigidity of the brake lever by moving the band inward to create a further point of contact between the handlebar and the lever. This further support significantly increases bike control and brake response, keeping a space between the band and the support point for other accessories to be mounted on the handlebar.

Servo wave action

When operating the Servowave brake lever, the initial call of the cable is faster, so a small lever excursion is enough to bring the pads in contact with the brake disc. So the power multiplication factor increases quickly to contact, so a greater lever excursion is used to apply greater force with higher braking control levels.

Commands configuration

  • Right lever: rear brake (sheath 1700 mm)

  • Left lever: front brake (1000 mm sheath)
