Ohlins RXF38 M.2 Air TTX18 29" fork

Developed for trail, enduro and e-MTBs, the single-crown RXF38 m.2 shares several key technologies with its dual-crown sibling, the DH38

The all-new RXF38 m.2 is available for 29" bikes, with five different iterations offering a range of travel from 160 to 180 mm and 44 and 51 mm plate offset options, built around the company's trademark TTX18 shock. Öhlins factory, and the unique three-chamber air spring.

The newest addition to the Öhlins line brings 38mm stanchions to the brand's mono crown range, a trail-optimized frame, confidence-inspiring TTX damping and unmatched adjustability. It is the product of Öhlins' close long-term collaboration with the UCI DH World Championship-winning Specialized Gravity team, where milliseconds gained lead to victories.

To get the best of dual crown performance in a single crown platform, Öhlins has applied the lessons learned from the development of the World Cup-winning DH38 m.1 fork to its latest addition to the range. The new RXF38 m.2 features a nearly identical iteration of the same race-proven damping system and air spring that brought the DH38 m.1 to World Cup glory. With a reinforced frame, adapted to the DH38 for trail use, equally thick temples and the same impressive adjustability as the DH, the new RXF38 m.2 doesn't flinch when the trail turns downhill.

38mm stems - the bigger the better
The new fork boasts 38mm diameter stanchions that offer greater rigidity, for point-and-shoot riding on the trails. By adopting larger stanchions, Öhlins has reduced flex where it matters most. Stiffness doesn't have to be synonymous with harshness, and Öhlins has worked hard to find the perfect flex pattern - when braking, cornering and in impacts - to offer greater control over a broad spectrum of riding and terrain. More control means faster and smoother descents, but also greater comfort; The RXF38 m.2's bombproof performance makes DH trails and hard-earned enduro descents easier, so you can go faster for longer. What goes down must come up, however, and so finding the best balance between bulletproof performance on the downhills and featherweight on the uphills was a key goal during the fork's development.

The exact compromise between DH38 and RXF36
Öhlins' RXF38 m.2 clocks in at just over 200g more than its slimmer sibling, the RXF36 m.2. To achieve this result, Öhlins cut precious grams by completely overhauling the lower part of its predecessor, the RXF38 m.1, to find a happy medium between the DH38 and the RXF36. The crown and legs were also fine-tuned from test to test to maximize the stiffness/weight ratio of the fork. The end result is a fork designed to float up hills and zoom downhill.

The damping of the TTX18 can handle the bumps
When it comes to bigger bumps, the fork's highly efficient air spring and TTX18 damper combine to swallow roots and rocks, maintaining speed and grip on the roughest lines. The fork's revised frame and the uncompromising stiffness of the 38mm stanchions are complemented by Öhlins' TTX18 damping system. Inherited from the DH38 m.1 and adapted to the single plate platform, the TTX18 damping system offers world-class race-proven performance. The increased damping pressure bandwidth allows for improved damping valve response, with a trail-optimized 18mm piston offering excellent small-bump sensitivity to keep the tires planted on technical terrain.

Awesome adjustment and simple setup
The fork's dual-piston, three-chamber system allows for complete, simple, tool-free adjustment from initial movement to bottoming out. Like the DH38 m.1, the RXF38 m.2 benefits from a wide range of intuitive adjustments. Riders can easily fine-tune the fork's performance to suit any terrain, thanks to 15 clicks of low-speed compression and rebound damping adjustment and 3 clicks of high-speed compression adjustment, plus a mode setting of ascent.

Technologies

TTX technology
The TTX dual air chamber damping system is used on both front forks and rear shocks of the premium product range with the highest performance demand. The dual bladder design controls bi-directional oil flow through the piston and dual tubes. This allows you to regulate the oil as it passes through the compression and rebound valves and thus control the pressure on each side of the piston. The rider will notice that the shock unit offers unmatched control and flawless damping, regardless of the conditions. Öhlins invested many hours of engineering to perfect the dual bladder design for perfect cushioning.
