The Firecrest 303 Tubeless Disc Brake was designed using direct real-world measurements (versus primarily wind tunnel or computer simulation). The results were enormous. Its rim has a slightly more bulbous design than its predecessor, with an external width of 30mm, an internal width of 25mm and a rim depth of 40mm. The profile offers low aerodynamic resistance and a better transition between rim and tire, increasing aerodynamic efficiency on the road. The wide rim stance also features less tire deflection for reduced rolling resistance. The combination of the wider tire, larger volume and lower tire pressure helps reduce rider fatigue, smoothing the ride over imperfect pavement and road conditions: the tire and wheel system absorbs the shaking, not the cyclist. At the heart of the Firecrest 303 Tubeless disc brake is a versatile and durable new hub, the German-engineered ZR1 DB. This hubset features 66 engagement points for faster response.
