The Scorpion™ E-MTB range is the evolution of mountain bike tires: new standards in durability, puncture protection and battery saving. All this was possible by working on the new patented HyperWALL™ structure and the new SmartGRIP+ Compound. Scorpion™ E-MTB sets new standards for electric mountain bikes.
A tread with a medium profile and spacing, specific for use on the rear to guarantee traction and stability on a variety of different terrains, from hard to soft. The Scorpion™ E-MTB R tread is developed for use on the same terrain as the Scorpion™ E-MTB M, with medium height and spacing lugs and a wide range of use. The specific design of the central blocks, derived from Pirelli's experience in the motocross world, increases grip and stability in both braking and traction to give Scorpion™ E-MTB R unique dynamic and reliability characteristics.
Scorpion™ E-MTB R creates a perfect combo when paired with Scorpion™ E-MTB M inside.

Technologies
SmartGRIP+ Compound
Pirelli has added lignin to its specific compound for E-MTB called SmartGRIP+, it is a chemical component of natural origin coming from the artisanal paper production process. Not only is it a low-impact additive, but it also improves the mechanical properties of the rubber even further to result in an ultimate tensile strength and elongation of the rubber sample in the laboratory, increasing it by 10%. This translates into better tear resistance, necessary to withstand the overloads of fast riding and the braking torques of the electric motors of modern E-MTBikes. This performance improvement comes without compromising the other feature of the SmartGRIP Compound formulation: grip.
HyperWALL
The third innovation that Pirelli brings to the world of cycling from its background in Motorsport: a new bead and sidewall construction that further increases the tire's performance in terms of handling at low pressures and puncture resistance. In particular in Offroad applications, especially in the most demanding ones such as Gravity and e-MTB, the integrity of the heel area and the stability of the sidewalls are a fundamental point for the overall performance of the tire: the tread with its sophisticated compound relies heavily on the behavioral characteristics of these two elements. Pirelli has introduced a construction that securely attaches the rubber heel and sidewall insert with a woven fabric flipper, causing them to behave as one solid piece rather than separate components with movements relative to each other.
